Thank you guys for all the personal comments you guys have express in conversations. I am very happy to share my journey with y’all. Grab a cup of coffee, tea or whatever your choice of beverage is, this one has lots of pictures.
Outside Area
The building looks massive from the outside. I manage to find a parking two streets from it. There are a few trails surrounding the building. Some of them go below the bridge and connects to the walking trail next to the Colorado River.
Austin Public Library in the heart of Austin City.
The silver roofing you see above is the Roof Garden area.
Some of the trails that are to the side of the library go below the bridge and connects to the trail besides the river.
It was a cloudy morning but by noon, it was bright and sunny.
Sixth Floor Areas
I explored from top to bottom, so I hopped into the elevator and came out in front of the Roof Garden.
It was around 10:30 am and it was full of families and kids. The garden itself was not very impressive, but the city view was.
Not a lot of variety of plants for a garden.
Very nice wooden flooring, resistant of all kinds of weather I assumed.
Now, the city view is nice!
The garden faces the side of the Colorado River.
It was cloudy morning, but I was abled to catch clear pictures.
The silver roof is form of multiple solar panels.
Fifth Floor Areas
The sixth and fifth floors where the ones with the bulk of the books. Whole wings of books all the way down the aisle.
All around the building the glass help with amazing ambient light and a relaxing panoramic view.
Fourth Floor Areas
The fourth floor has a whole wing of media. With device stations like this one that you can rent computers or iPads for in location used.
They also have a board game section, I wonder how many of these have all the original pieces lol.
This quirky mural was next to the periodical section.
I like the idea of returning here to read, it was extremely quiet.
This statue decors the entrance of the fiction books area.
Third Floor Areas
Second Floor Areas
I only took one picture of the second floor, it was of the center staircase. But there was a lot of stuff to see in that floor too. An art gallery with live installations of a community narrative, the entrance, and the souvenir store.
First Floor Area
The only thing I saw from the first floor was the presentation area. Most of this floor was admin offices.
Books that caught my attention
Great for daily practice, I imagine a whole series of instagram post of fruits and nuts abstract paintings.
Another book with really cool illustrations. I like the idea to use illustrations for inspiration instead of the real flowers. I believe it makes the abstraction fun.
And look at this old friend! I carry this huge buddy for years during my college journey.
Of course I gravitated towards the writing section. This one I will definitely rent when I come back.
This collection grabbed my attention immediately.
And this last one is going to be one of the first book I think I will rent from the library in my next visit.
Got my library card y’all!
I could’t leave without it!
I hope you enjoyed reading and looking all the pictures. It was very nice to go out and explore the city. Do you guys think I should go to that roof garden more often? Let me know in the comments. That’s all I have for this post.
beautiful! i'm jealous, a rooftop garden with great views and reading room. What more can you ask, beam me there
Now that’s a very cool looking library, you don’t see those here in Puerto Rico as big and whit so many variety in books.
